Associate roles

A caseload of people who already know why they're here.

We're a small virtual practice doing one thing. If perinatal and reproductive work is what you want to spend your clinical life on, we'd like to hear from you.

What we ask

Requirements, in order of how much they matter.

  • Current registration with OCSWSSW or CRPO, in good standing, permitted to practise in Ontario
  • Real perinatal experience. Not an interest, not a weekend certificate. Tell us what you have actually sat with
  • Your own professional liability insurance
  • Comfort with virtual delivery and with a client feeding a baby mid-session
  • Willingness to say when something is outside your scope. This matters more here than breadth does

Specialisms we'd particularly like to add: perinatal work with LGBTQ+ and 2SLGBTQ+ clients, donor conception and surrogacy, and clinicians practising in a language other than English.

Fit

Honest about who this suits.

This works well if

  • You want to go deep in one area rather than stay general
  • You want referrals without building a practice around yourself
  • You have another role, or young children, and need the hours to flex around them
  • You'd rather consult with people who know this work than explain it

This works badly if

  • You want a salaried position with guaranteed hours. This is contract work and income varies
  • You want a full caseload immediately. It builds over a few months
  • You want to take any client who comes. We stay in scope, and refer out often
  • You want to build your own brand through the practice

Applying

Four steps, about three weeks.

Send us something real

CV, registration number, and a short note on what draws you to this work specifically. We read the note first.

A conversation with Mila

Forty-five minutes. Mostly about clinical thinking, not a competency grid.

A case discussion

We talk through a scenario together. There is no right answer and we are listening for how you reason, not what you conclude.

Mila Arsenijevic

Not sure whether you have enough perinatal experience?

Write anyway and say so. Several of the team came in strong in one adjacent area and built the rest here. We would rather have the conversation than have you screen yourself out.

A therapist writing notes on a clipboard while a client talks

A practice small enough that the clinical director knows your caseload.

Applying

What candidates ask.

Is this employment or contract work?

Independent contractor on a fee split. Income varies with caseload, and we would rather say that plainly than have you find out in month three.

How long does it take to build a caseload?

Usually a few months. Referrals are provided and you are not expected to market yourself, but a full book from week one is not something we can promise and you should be sceptical of anyone who does.

Do I need formal perinatal certification?

No. What we look for is real caseload experience in this area. Tell us what you have actually sat with rather than what you have a certificate in.

Can I keep my own private practice alongside this?

Yes. Several of the team do, and several have other clinical roles. You set your own hours.

What does supervision look like?

Group clinical consultation plus access to the Clinical Director. Because everyone here works in the same area, consultation is with people who already understand the material.
