Book with Alana

Alana is warm, a little funny, and the kind of therapist who will tell you what she honestly thinks. Twenty years with women, children and families, including at Women and Infants' Health at Mount Sinai Hospital.

How I work

I use evidence-based methods to support women at every stage of life, and I bring trauma-informed care to all of it. Where I start is usually helping someone find words for what they are actually experiencing. If you’re not sure how to describe what you’re going through, that’s okay. I’ve heard a lot.

I build on what you already have: your strengths, your resilience, and what you already know about yourself. I am not trying to fix you. I am trying to make this less lonely and more manageable.

Therapy with me does not usually feel heavy from the first session, which surprises people who were bracing for it.

What the first session is like

I will ask what you want out of this, and if you do not know yet we will work it out together rather than pretending you arrived with a plan. Expect me to be direct about whether I think I can help.

Away from the work

Outside of work Alana is at her children's sports games, walking her dogs in the forest, or camping in the summer. Time outdoors is how she recharges.

Ontario's colleges do not permit therapists to publish client testimonials, or to ask for them. Everything above is independently checkable. You can confirm any clinician's registration on the public register at ocswssw.org or crpo.ca.

What if she is not the right fit for me?

Tell us after the first session and you can switch to another therapist on our team at any time. Just let us know. Alana would rather you saw the right person than stayed with her.

Is she taking new clients?

She has a short waitlist, currently about three weeks. If that timing does not work, six other therapists here cover overlapping areas. Compare them side by side.

All questions people ask us

You can change your mind

If after the first session you would rather work with someone else, you can switch to another therapist on our team at any time. Just let us know, and you do not have to explain why. Fit is one of the strongest predictors of whether therapy works, so getting it wrong once is ordinary.
