Insurance

What your plan will probably do with this.

The full breakdown of what therapy costs in Ontario, including every provider type, the plan wording that decides whether you are reimbursed, and what to do with no coverage.

Sessions with a Registered Social Worker or Registered Psychotherapist are covered by most Ontario workplace plans. Plans differ on which of the two they name, so that is the wording to check. We direct bill through Sun Life and TELUS eClaims, and provide receipts for all other insurers. Ask us when you book.

Choosing

The questions that decide which one you book.

What is the difference between a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Psychotherapist?

Both are regulated professions in Ontario and both can provide psychotherapy. The difference is training route and governing college, not quality or scope for this kind of work.

A Registered Social Worker (RSW) holds a social work degree and registers with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. A Registered Psychotherapist (RP) holds a psychotherapy-specific qualification and registers with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

The practical difference is insurance. Some workplace plans cover one and not the other, so check which your plan names before booking. We have both here.

Which service do I need?

If a fertility clinic asked you to have counselling before donor conception or surrogacy, that is implications counselling, with documentation returned to your clinic.

If you want ongoing support for how any of this feels, that is individual therapy. If the strain is between you and a partner, that is couples. If you are not sure, book the free call and we will tell you.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes, with limited availability at 400 Walmer Road in midtown Toronto. We also offer virtual sessions across Ontario.

Virtual means you can see any of our seven therapists from anywhere in the province, not just the ones near you. It also removes the two things that most often stop new parents from coming: childcare and travel.

Can I switch therapists or services later?

Yes. Tell us after the first session and you can switch to another therapist on our team at any time. Just let us know, and you do not have to explain why. Moving between individual and couples work is equally straightforward.

How do I pay, and when?

Payment is taken after each session rather than up front. We direct bill through Sun Life and TELUS eClaims, and provide receipts for all other insurers. Ask us when you book. You do not need to enter card details to book the free consultation.

Not sure which of these you need?

That is what the free call is for. Fifteen minutes, and if the answer is that you need something we do not offer, we will say so and point you to it.
