Book with Ruth

Ruth brings more than thirty years of experience to her work with individuals, couples and families. She's warm, down to earth and easy to talk to. She has seen a lot, so whatever you bring, you won't have to soften it for her.

How I work

I've spent over thirty years working with people through some of the hardest parts of life: infertility, pregnancy loss, postpartum depression and anxiety, grief, divorce, family conflict and big life changes. I work with individuals, couples and families, and I'm comfortable moving between them when that's what helps.

My approach is practical and collaborative. I draw on CBT, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness, and I work in a trauma-informed, strengths-based way. In plain terms, we'll figure out what you want to be different, look at what's already working for you, and build from there.

I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be honest without being judged, and where you leave each session with something you can use.

What the first session is like

You don't need to have it all figured out. We'll talk about what's going on, what you'd like to change, and what support looks like for you. If you're coming as a couple or a family, I'll make sure each person has room to be heard.

Away from the work

Ruth is a mom of three grown kids and has been married for more than thirty years. Her three dogs make sure there's never a dull moment at home. Outside work she catches up with family and friends, works out, gets outside when she can, and is usually in the middle of a good book.

Ontario's colleges do not permit therapists to publish client testimonials, or to ask for them. Everything above is independently checkable. You can confirm any clinician's registration on the public register at ocswssw.org or crpo.ca.

What if she is not the right fit for me?

Tell us after the first session and you can switch to another therapist on our team at any time. Just let us know. Ruth would rather you saw the right person than stayed with her.

Is she taking new clients?

She is taking new clients, usually within the week. If that timing does not work, six other therapists here cover overlapping areas. Compare them side by side.

You can change your mind

If after the first session you would rather work with someone else, you can switch to another therapist on our team at any time. Just let us know, and you do not have to explain why. Fit is one of the strongest predictors of whether therapy works, so getting it wrong once is ordinary.
